During this class we got on with our fascinators and hats. My hat is coming along quite nicely. The crown tip is blocked, and the rest of the crown is currently on the block. The brim is being fused, so I need to take along my little ‘small project’ iron along next week so I [...] [...]

Now the work begins! We’re continually working on our ‘fascinators’ in between the stages for our ‘big hats’ (waiting for it to dry etc), so I don’t expect to be finished it much before the ‘big hat’ is. But I’ve finalised a shape/design/theme for my hatinator so it should come together quite nicely. Now, for my ‘big [...] [...] Day two was fun! We got to use hat blocks to make the bases of our ‘fascinator’ (mine’s turning more into a hatinator), sewing on millinery wire and starting to stitch the bias around the edging. It’s amazing how something flat can be transformed into a 3D shape. It doesn’t matter what craft I’m doing, I [...] [...]  |
