Baby Steps, and Small Plans

I have no specific plans or timelines.  I have a starting point and an ‘ideal’ goal.  I should have more of a plan, though.  Not just so I know in which direction to head, but it will also help me keep things a little more organised.

Yesterday I had taken time to style my hair a little before going out, and I thought it was worth preserving a little of the body of the ‘do.  So before bed last night, I pinned just my fringe area (or bangs) into some pincurls and pulled the rest of my hair back, to keep it neat.  It worked great as my fringe went right back into it’s nice full semi-pompadour.  It’s a small thing, but it made me smile this morning.

I want to start exercising again, too.  I have an exercise bike at my disposal, as well as a Wii Fit (so much fun!), not to mention a pretty view if I head down to the bay to go for a nice level walk.

I think the key here for me is small steps, and not expecting too much from myself all at once.  I know if I start feeling overwhelmed I’ll go into ‘hiding’ again because it’s just ‘easier’.  And yes, it takes no effort at all, but it’s not easier on my mental and spiritual health.

Millinery Essentials Course – Day 4

During this class we got on with our fascinators and hats.  My hat is coming along quite nicely.  The crown tip is blocked, and the rest of the crown is currently on the block.  The brim is being fused, so I need to take along my little ’small project’ iron along next week so I can manouver it easier around the brim block.

We also got started on some silk flowers.  I think my silk is a little over stiff, but that’s ok… it’ll just be a perky flower.. LOL

No pictures this week, as it was really just a get in and do it week.  Next week, though, I hope to have more pictues :D

The Start of My Journey (sticky post)

I want so very much to share my journey.

Millinery Essentials Course – Day Three

Now the work begins!

We’re continually working on our ‘fascinators’ in between the stages for our ‘big hats’ (waiting for it to dry etc), so I don’t expect to be finished it much before the ‘big hat’ is.  But I’ve finalised a shape/design/theme for my hatinator so it should come together quite nicely.

Now, for my ‘big hat’, what I’ve ended up with is a bit of a cross between my two pictures.  The brim won’t be as big as the red hat, but is a similar shape, and the crown is more like the first one, but a little peaked at the front.  It’s hard to describe.. but here we go…

It’s a cross between:-

Apparantly, however, I’ve chosen to do a difficult crown/brim combo in a difficult fabric.  Thankfully the instructor is more than happy to help me.  It does mean that I’ll be doing the hat in three parts, rather than two, so more work for me…. hehe

But the important thing is that I’m having fun :D
